This stoneware ceramic bowl is a good useful shape, being deep and accommodating. It was made by me on the potter's wheel. While still rotating on the wheel, I pushed a eucalyptus stick from the inside up the wall of the bowl to give it a 'wobble'. This gives the bowl a lovely irregular form, giving it life and movement. It measures 12.5cm (5") in diameter and is 7cm (2 3/4") tall.
I have stamped a fragment of an Art Nouveau Australian flannel flower design as well as an ammonite fossil into the bottom of the interior of the bowl. Something to find once you've finished eating.
It has been glazed in my glossy "Green Glass" glaze. The stoneware firing (1260-1280C) has made this bowl strong and chip resistant.
My potters mark 'DM' has been stamped into the base inside the foot ring.
